Intro
Following Plastic Surgery (liposuction, tummy tuck, abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, BBL,etc.) surgeons will recommend you schedule a series of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massages following your procedure because of how well it assists the body during the recovery process and optimizes results. Although liposuction is meant to remove pesky fat from various areas of the body, it’s still an invasive procedure that disrupts a variety of physiological functions. Despite being undesirable, fat is an active and living tissue that stores lipids and energy, contains many blood and lymphatic vessels, and provides hormonal regulation. Once removed, those vessels can become damaged, and cells and connective tissue are destroyed. This can lead to an accumulation of excess fluid buildup and the formation of hardened areas of scar tissue (fibrosis). Lymphatic drainage utilizes a particular sequence of massage strokes to trigger fluid flow through the lymphatic system, providing a host of benefits.
We recommend booking a consultation with us prior to your surgery date so we can build a treatment plan together & provide you with exclusive pre op tips we have learned from our post op babes and surgeons from around the world. A minimum of 10-20 massages is always recommended; frequency of treatments is individual to each case.
What Is Post Op?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage will be the first step in your recovery and is strictly done with manual therapies that focus on speeding up the healing process by stimulating the lymphatic system to flush toxins and excess water retention. Simply massaging the area is not a lymphatic massage, specific techniques are used and any internal trauma from the procedure must be taken into consideration otherwise you can block the lymph vessels and cause the opposite of what’s intended. Additionally, our Post Op Care includes 2-6 other manual techniques and/or modalities depending on each individual case.
